The Maryland Center is proud to announce the launch of the Quantum Computing Breakthrough Against Cancer Center, a pioneering initiative dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of quantum computing in the fight against cancer.

This new center represents a convergence of cutting-edge computational science and oncology research, positioning The Maryland Center at the forefront of innovation in cancer treatment and prevention. By harnessing quantum computing’s unprecedented computational power, we are opening new pathways to accelerate drug discovery, optimize treatment protocols, and unlock insights that were previously beyond reach.

The launch event will take place on June 11, 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at our newly expanded offices at Venture X College Park, located at 5825 University Research Court, Suite 2000, College Park, MD 20737-0019.

THE MARYLAND CENTER SECURES CONGRESSIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR QUANTUM COMPUTING CANCER RESEARCH CENTER

The Maryland Center has been awarded $700,000 in federal appropriations to establish the Quantum Computing Breakthrough Against Cancer Center, a world-class research hub dedicated to accelerating innovation and fostering collaboration in cancer prevention, diagnostics, and treatment while advancing the next generation of breakthrough medical research.

The appropriation was secured through the offices of U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Sherrilyn Alsobrooks, with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) facilitating implementation and oversight.

This initiative positions The Maryland Center at the forefront of quantum computing and artificial intelligence applications for oncology research. The Center will draw on NIST’s expertise in quantum information science, AI, and quantum sensing to address some of medicine’s greatest challenges, particularly in underserved communities disproportionately affected by cancer.

THE MARYLAND CENTER LAUNCHES AGENTIC AI CO-PILOT FOR GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

The Maryland Center has successfully implemented an Agentic AI system that serves as an organizational co-pilot, automatically identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing grant opportunities aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities.

The system continuously scans federal, state, and private funding landscapes to surface relevant opportunities, accelerate decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and reduce capture cycle time. By automating preliminary analysis and opportunity assessment, the AI co-pilot enables the team to focus on high-priority pursuits and proposal development.

This deployment reflects The Maryland Center’s commitment to leveraging emerging technologies to strengthen competitive positioning and support organizational growth.

THE MARYLAND CENTER JOINS WINNING TEAM FOR $151 BILLION SHIELD CONTRACT

The Maryland Center is proud to announce that we are part of the winning team selected for the SHIELD contract (Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense), a transformative $151 billion indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) vehicle awarded by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency for the Department of Defense.

This represents a significant strategic opportunity. As one of over 300 awardees on this multiple-award IDIQ, The Maryland Center now has access to a modernized, agile contracting vehicle designed to rapidly deliver advanced defense capabilities through 2035.
SHIELD focuses on critical areas aligned with our core competencies: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, digital engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, and integrated command-and-control systems. The contract is structured to foster broad industry participation, including innovative small and medium businesses—positioning us competitively alongside traditional primes.

The path forward is clear: winning task orders under this master contract will be key to converting this award into meaningful revenue and impact.
